Fire Station Project Update

Big news for Otsego! On November 12th, the City Council officially gave the green light for construction of the new Otsego Fire Station. Located on Odean Avenue near 75th Street NE, this fire station will be a turning point for public safety in our growing community.

This project has been years in the making, with thoughtful planning and collaboration shaping every decision. The new fire station isn’t just a building—it’s a foundation for enhanced emergency response and a symbol of our City’s commitment to safety and preparedness.

Timeline
Construction began in Spring 2025, with the facility expected to be finished by summer of 2026. Once completed, the station will become Otsego’s first locally operated fire department, housing equipment, apparatus, and personnel to handle a wide range of emergencies.

Behind the scenes, a lot is happening to make sure we’re ready to hit the ground running. Staffing plans are being finalized, and operational procedures are taking shape to ensure everything—from emergency response protocols to equipment deployment—is ready to go. This isn’t just about putting up walls and a roof; it’s about building a fully functional department prepared to serve Otsego for decades to come.

Why This Facility Matters
The new station is critical for Otsego’s future. Without a dedicated facility, the Otsego Fire Department simply couldn’t exist. The new fire station is designed to help serve our growing community today and well into the future.

But it’s more than that. This facility will also be a point of pride for our community, continuing to foster collaboration with other emergency agencies, and create a stronger sense of connection in Otsego. It’s not just a place for firefighters—it’s a place for the community.

When Will the Department Be Operational?
We’re aiming for an official start date of January 1, 2027. By then, we’ll have the personnel, equipment, and protocols in place to provide professional fire and emergency services to the City of Otsego.
