Heads Up Residents:

Water Meter Replacement Starting Soon

Otsego residents with water meters that are
15 years old or older will receive a letter from the City the beginning of January with instructions for residents to schedule an appointment.

Meters will be replaced during regular business hours by City staff. The replacement process takes about a ½ hour at no cost to the resident. Water service will be isolated during the replacement. Please ensure an adult (18 or older) is available during the installation to provide access and guidance on the location. City staff will reach out to residents in the coming weeks if an appointment has not been scheduled.

Think Before You Flush

It can be tempting to treat the toilet like an extra wastebasket—but flushing the wrong items can lead to big problems. Many products often tossed in the toilet, even those labeled “flushable” or “biodegradable,” don’t break down as expected. These items can cause serious clogs in home and business plumbing and create costly issues throughout the sanitary sewer system.

Only TWO items should ever be flushed:

Human waste
Toilet paper

Flushing anything else can cause major problems, including:

Clogged pumps
Increased sewer overflows
Plugged plumbing and septic systems
Added labor time and costs to resolve issues
