2025 Water Meter Replacements

The City of Otsego is proactively upgrading water meters, replacing older mechanical style meters
to address risks of battery failure and read inaccuracies. The new technology offers better longevity and accuracy with access to detailed flow information.

The replacement process is quick (within ½ hour) and at no cost. If your meter is due for replacement the City will be reaching out to schedule a time to upgrade your meter.

Spring Hydrant Flushing

April is Spring Water System flushing. Staff flushes hydrants to clean system pipes using high velocity water flow to scour and remove build up within the pipes. Customer impact during the process can include pressure reduction and discoloration. Once staff is through the area the pipes are clean. A map is available to assist with flushing timing and location.

Sump Pump Reminder

The City of Otsego would like to remind residents that connecting your sump pump to the sanitary system is prohibited. Doing so can cause excessive flows to the treatment facility, which may lead to reduced treatment capacity or overflows in the sewer system. To ensure proper functioning and compliance with local regulations, sump pumps must be discharged outside of your home. Learn more on our City webpage.
