Power Line Rebuild Project
Great River Energy plans to rebuild about 26 miles of an existing overhead power line between Otsego and Maple Lake. The project starts near Highway 101 and 90th Street NE in Otsego and continues to Maple Lake.
Originally constructed in 1950, the line is being replaced to improve the reliability of the area’s transmission system. Construction will occur in three phases from late 2026 through 2029.

Survey/Design: Summer 2025 - Spring 2027
Easements/Permits: Winter 2025 - Spring 2028
Phase 1 Construction: Fall 2026 - Spring 2027
Phase 1 Energization: Spring 2027
Phase 2 Construction: Fall 2027 - Spring 2028
Phase 2 Energization: Spring 2028
Phase 3 Construction: Summer 2028 - Spring 2029
Phase 3 Energization: Spring 2029
